There are four animals that can live on the farm, a dog and horse as pets, and cows and chickens as livestock.

Dog[]
The dog is originally named Koro and is introduced on Day 2 by Ellen.
Horse[]
The horse is found in the mountains during the first Winter.
Livestock[]
Livestock initially must be purchased from the Livestock Dealer, but can be bred after that. Livestock cannot be purchased on rainy days. Livestock eats fodder, whether it is purchased from the Livestock Dealer or hay.
Chickens[]
Chickens live in the Chicken Coop and produce eggs.
Cows[]
Cows live in the Cow Barn and produce milk, the quality of which is dependent on their mood.
A cow is needed to trade to the Traveling Salesperson for the Magic Bean.
