Ann (ラン Ran?) is a bachelorette in Harvest Moon 64.
She lives on her family's farm, the Green Ranch, and adores animals (especially horses). She lives with her over-protective older brother, Gray, and their gruff father, Doug. Ann's family raises every kind of livestock in the game, so she is an expert at caring for sheep, cows, and chickens. However, wild animals are one of the few things that can decrease her usually high spirits.
Ann is bold, always saying what is on her mind, and a bit of a tomboy. She sometimes feels that being feminine is important, and is annoyed by Popuri's femininity. Her best friend in town is Karen, whom she is extremely close to. As Ann's affection for the player increases, she will begin to share "secrets" to successfully raising animals, and will also (if the player has befriended Gray too) begin to wonder about whether or not she should meddle in her bother's budding relationship with Popuri.
If the player does not to marry Ann, she will eventually settle down with Cliff, a wanderer (and coincidentally, Karen's cousin) instead.

Heart Events[]
Ann is Sick
Visit the Green Ranch on a rainy day that is not Thursday when Ann has a green heart or higher. Doug will tell the player that Ann is sick and visiting her might make her feel better. If Pete agrees to see her, Doug will be happy with him being able to enter Ann's room.
Dream
When Ann has a yellow heart or higher, Pete will dream of climbing a tree with her as children to look at baby birds. The dream ends with him and the girl falling out of the tree. The next sunny non-festival day, go to Moon Mountain by the tree next to the ore cave; an event will be activated between the player and Ann. Telling her they remember falling out of the tree will make her delighted.
Sprained Ankle
On a sunny day when Ann has a yellow heart or higher, she will be on the ground in the crossroads directly outside the player's farm with a twisted ankle. Carrying her back home will increase her affection. Calling for help brings Cliff, who will carry her home and increase their affection towards each other.
Photo
This event will occur during winter afternoon when Ann has a pink heart or higher. She will ask the player to go into the woods with her. The two of them will see a rare "pika bunny", after which the player will get a photo to commemorate the event
Note: Triggering this event will end the day, so the player must complete all chores.
Confession
The confession event happens when Ann is at a pink heart. On the ranch, she demands the player proves his love to her.
Rival Events[]
First Impressions
- One morning, Cliff will visit and share fish with the player. When he leaves, he'll bump into Ann (literally).
Cliff Pets Cliffguard
- Cliff will visit the Green Ranch to pet Cliffguard. Ann gets mad and yells at him, but Cliff meant no harm. He tries to defuse the situation by pointing out the similarities in their name, but Ann is still angry. Cliff notes that she has a fierce temper.
Kane's Lunch
- Cliff and Ann will argue near the Carpenter's house about letting Kane, Cliff's pet hawk, eat a rabbit. Ann thinks that sounds cruel, but Cliff says it is nature's way. Although he is insistent that it is Kane's natural instinct to eat smaller prey to survive, she lets the rabbit go.
Coward
- Cliff will tell the player he is leaving because he is afraid of being betrayed. Ann exits the Green Ranch and calls Cliff a coward, pushing him away.
Other Events[]
A Brother Just Like Gray
This event only occurs in Fall by walking to Green Ranch when Ann and Popuri have 150 affection or higher. Popuri cannot be married to Gray.[1]
Ann and Popuri are discussing Gray. Ann feels annoyed that her brother is always so worried about her. Popuri says that she is envious and wishes that she had a brother like Gray, then makes sure Ann that Gray is just worried about her. Ann agrees, but still thinks that he can be her pain sometimes.
Ann's Candy
This event has no requirements, but will probably occur when Ann is at a blue "friendly" heart or higher.
On Moon Mountain by the carpenter's house, the player will see Ann kneeling by the tree next to the cave. If he starts talking to her, she will point out an acorn by the tree that a squirrel has hidden there, but probably forgotten about. Gray enters and points out how Ann sometimes forgets candy she hides around the house, and asks if she likes stale candy. He gives a rare smile, making Ann appears embarrassed. They leave together.
Ann's Riceballs
This event will take place between 3pm and 4:59pm when Ann has 50 affection or higher.[2] She stops by the player's farm to give him rice balls. Ann says that she has always depended on her brother to cook, so she has not tried to do much cooking herself.
Bakery Card
The player must have the bakery point card with 5 or more points on it. Ann has 150 affection or higher.[3]
As the player leaves his farm, Ann stops by to return a dropped card that is actually his bakery card, obtained after buying a cake at the bakery.
Baking Troubles
This event can only be triggered between Fall 15 and 30 when the bakery is open. Elli and Ann has 150 affection or higher.[4]
Jeff will tell the player that Elli has a day-off. Behind the bakery, Elli is trying to give Ann lessons on how to bake a cake, but it did not go well. Jeff explains that this happens often and complains that they two girls are so loud.
Birthday Gift
This event will trigger when Ann has 120 affection level or higher, as long as the player and her are unmarried. Ann will only bring him a gift if she has the highest affection of all bachelorettes.[5]
Ann will come to the player's farm on his birthday and bring him a gift. If her affection level is lower than 160, she will give the player cookies. If her affection level is 160 or higher, Ann will give him hand-knit socks.
Cousin Conference
Walk into Rick's shop on a sunny Thursday when Ann and Rick have a decent friendship level.
Rick tells Ann that he is not sick, but has just been having trouble inventing new things, so his shop is closed pretty often. They later discuss how their grandmother experienced many failures before inventing something great. Ann tells Rick to take his business more seriously.
Getting a Horse
- During the first Spring, when the player first visits Green Ranch, an event will activate where he will walk into the field to look at Cliffguard. Ann will approach and asks if the player like horses; telling so will result in her offering Cliffguard's brother much Gray's sadness. Raising the horse well, and participating/winning the horse race will make her happy.
Maria is Swindled
This event takes place only in Fall by entering the southern part of town. Both Maria and Ann must have 150 friendship or higher.[6]
Ann scolds Maria for not saying no to one of Sammy's sale pitches again. Maria gets upset, but Ann will buy the Watermelon from Maria to make her feel better.
Problems With Ann
Go to the vineyard when Ann and Karen are at a blue heart or higher. Karen complains about her problems with her father and the Vineyard, then goes on to say that Ann is lucky because she has no problems. While being asked about Cliff, an embarrassed Ann yells that she was not talking about him before they walk inside together.
Trivia[]
- She finds Maria's meekness to be stressful.
- She has a scar on her forehead from falling out of a tree when she was a child.
- Her mother died when she was young.
- Ann loves knitting with the extra wool from her farm, as shown by the socks she may give the player on his birthday.
- If the player has been befriending Cliff and marries Ann, Cliff will leave Flowerbud as he feels betrayed, which he mentions as something that has happened to him in the past.
- If the player marries her, she will alternate between feeding the chickens or crating their eggs.
