BS Bokujō Monogatari (BS牧場物語?) was a downloadable 4-part Japanese-exclusive BS-X Soundlink game available for the SNES via Stellaview.
Like all BS-X games, this game was not permanent and would be removed after it's specified broadcast window. Meaning this game could only be downloaded from St.GIGA during its specified broadcast week and time window (which was between 6:00 and 6:50). After that period, the game could no longer be accessed and was deemed lost media. Episodes two and four have since been recovered in ROM files, however they are buggy and broken in many aspects. The SoundLink is also noticeably missing due to it having been streamed live and not being connected to the game directly.[1]
Gameplay[]
The game is similar to that of Harvest Moon and follows the same basic plot and gameplay mechanics. However, BS Bokujō Monogatari had many changes and limitations. It was also a SoundLink game - meaning the player played during a specific window where a real-time narration walks the player through the game and gives them helpful tips and advice.
Unlike Harvest Moon the game is limited to a pre-plowed farmland that the player cannot exit. The game also begins in Summer, instead of Spring, and the player has all golden tools and an infinite supply of tomato and corn seeds. As time progresses in the game, pre-set events occur. Such events include rain-storms and season changes.
Gameplay was broken into four episodes, which all aired on different dates.[2]
- Episode one was called First Time "Outdoor Life" (はじめての“あうとどあＬＩＦＥ” Hajimete no "Autodoa Life"?) and released on September 2, 1996
- Episode two was called Fruitful Land and Mind! (大地と心に溢れる実り! Daichi to Kokoro ni Afureru Minori!?) and released on September 9, 1996
- Episode 3 was called We Are All Alive (僕らはみんな生きている Bokura wa Minna Ikite iru?) and released on September 16, 1996
- Episode 4 was called Aim for Ranch Master! (牧場マスターを目指せ! Bokujō Masutā o Mezase!?) and released on September 23, 1996
