Carter (カーター Kātā? lit. Carter) is a character in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.
Carter is the town's archeologist, who came to Forgotten Valley to study the ancient civilization that once resided there. He lives in a tent near the excavation site with his assistant Flora. Carter generously allows the player to keep any items found while digging, with the exception of stone tablets that can be found each year.
Carter is friendly yet reserved, intellectual, and loves sunshine; consistently admiring it if you speak to him during Spring and Summer, and missing it sorely in Autumn and Winter. He also loves good food, as Flora prepares the meals for them both, and his respected assistant isn't the most accomplished chef. On his days off, Carter can be seen gazing across the ocean horizon, enjoying the sights and sounds of the beach.
Befriending Carter may influence your child to be interested in academics. If your child is the most interested in academics at the end of Chapter 3, Carter expresses interest as hiring your child as a future assistant. Carter will give the player the "Summer of the Pioneer" record once his friendship is nearly maxed by speaking to him on the beach on one of his days off.
