Greetings[]

  • First Meeting: Ah! You're [Player], yes? A most auspicious meeting indeed. Thomas told me all about you. My name is Carter, and I am the town priest. I hope I see you at Church.
  • "Hello, [Player]. Good weather is such a blessing."

Chat[]

  • A young man named Cliff comes to Church everyday saying he wants to atone for his sins. Do you understand the fundamental truth of atonement, [Player]? I believe that every sin is forgiven the moment you speak your desire for atonement into existence."
  • First time visiting Church: "A blessed day to you. This is the Church. A priest I may be, but only in title. I don't really do anything around here. Why, you ask? Because the meaning of "happiness" I believe in has become something altogether unrecognizable. Yet despite my own circumstances, I will not reject any who come to me in search of salvation. The Church also has a Confessional, which is at your disposal should you ever wish to unburden yourself."
  • With Mei and Yu: The kind and gentle spirit of Mineral Town is immediately apparent when I look at Mei and Yu's upbringing."
  • "Do you think that when we create graves, the dead stay in them forever? I ask, but in truth, none can say. Still, we cling to our rituals, likely because we fear forgetting that which has lost physical form."
  • "Everyone says graveyards are eerie, but I beg to differ. This is a place where people leave their treasured memories -- happy memories of days long past..."
  • "Nature Sprites live in the forest beyond the Church. If you befriend them, they'll help you with your work."
  • "Have you met the Nature Sprites yet? They don't often reveal themselves. Only those pure of heart and earnest in spirit are able to see them."
  • "Everyone in this town is so kind. Even a pseudo-mendicant like me can manage to get by thanks to them."
  • Asks to tell a story: "Ah, perfect timing. Might you stay long enough to listen to a parable of mine? I'll warn you--it may get a little long."
  • Tells story: "Once upon a time, in a land not unlike our own, there was a normal family. The kind one would find anywhere. A father, mother, and their juvenile son all lived together in blissful harmony. One day, the mother succumbed to a virulent illness and suddenly passed away. As the grief stricken father stood over this late wife, the little boy came up to him and asked: "What happened to Mom?" The boy curiously peered at his dearly departed mother's unblinking face. The father, unsure what to say, desperately explained that she had fallen into a deep sleep. Upon hearing that, the boy was greatly troubled. He told his father: "Then please, Dad. Use all of my allowance and buy a big alarm clock to wake her up." What do you think of that? That was when the father learned that the diluted words adult use to avoid speaking of death...hold neither power over nor meaning to children. Think on that. I bid you a blessed day."
  • Cliff starts work at the Vineyard: "Cliff has been much happier since he decided to work at the Vineyard. It's all thanks to you. In the end, you're the one who saved Cliff."
  • Teaches a recipe: "I'll teach you how to make a treat that I often fix for the children. It's quite a straightforward recipe -- no pen or paper required, I'd reckon. You simply need Strawberries and Milk. You put those in the Mixer, blend them together, and in a blink of an eye, it's done. Hm? You'd rather just BUY some Strawberry Milk? But creating it yourself is far more satisfying."
  • "Shall I tell you why I do so little spiritual outreach in this town? Because the townspeople live according to the Goddess' teachings without even realizing it. There is nothing for me to teach."
  • "Since coming here, I've realized what amazing power lies within the bonds of human connection."

Gifts[]

  • Loved: "Thank you. Labor as I might in the realm of the divine, I lack a true "job" here, so I feel blessed by such kindness."
  • Hated: "Heavens... Folks say I have saintly patience, but even I have a few things that rub me the wrong way. Well, all right. A lot of things. But I forgive you, my child. You simply did not know better this time."
  • Multiple Gifts: "Oh my Goddess! For me? Thank you for the generous thought, but you already gave a gift to me today. One is plenty."

Festivals[]

Mochi Festival:

  • "Mochi is simply divine. I confess I'm quite fond of it."

Cooking Exhibition:

  • Days before festival: "What kinds of meals will this year's Cooking Exhibition bring us, I wonder? I cannot partake, but the thought is certainly entertaining."
  • Day before festival: "The Cooking Exhibition takes place tomorrow. I cannot help but wonder whose cuisine will reign supreme this year..."
  • Cooking Exhibition: "Many people bring food for this event, but they're all so distinctive. It's easy to tell who made what."

Moo-Moo Festival:

  • Few days before festival: "Might you be participating in this year's Moo-Moo Festival, [Player]?"
  • Day before festival: "It will be a pleasure to watch tomorrow's Moo-Moo Festival. The cows there never cease to impress me."
  • At festival (before judging, you are not competing): "Cows are treated very differently depending on what country you live in. But they're hard workers and produce milk, so they're generally appreciated."
  • At festival (after judging, you are not competing): "My dream is to sleep while reclining on a cow. With a straw hat covering my face, of course. Ah, sweet bovine bliss."
  • At festival (before judging, you are competing): "Are you taking good care of your cow? If you don't shower it with love, it won't become the best cow it can be."
  • After festival (lose): "That's unfortunate. I prayed for your victory, but..."
  • After festival (win): "So you won. Congratulations! I praise your efforts."

Concert:

  • Few days before Concert: "I pray you'll take part in this year's Concert with us. You would be a wonderful addition to our group."
  • Day before Concert: "I expect a delightful performance at tomorrow's Concert. Everyone's been practicing so diligently."

Harvest Festival:

  • Few days before festival: "I must be sure to have enough ingredients on hand... The Harvest Festival draws near, after all!"
  • Day before festival: "Have you thought about what you'd like to add to our Harvest Festival hodgepodge, [Player]? As a farmer, I'm sure you have much to choose from."
  • At festival: "Ah, sweet sermons, this takes me back. I used to do something similar back in the day. I would put on my holy apron and make the most divine soup, then have the townspeople over."
  • After eating (good result): "Hot pots certainly taste better when you share them with everyone."
  • After eating (bad result): "Well, this is part of having everyone bring ingredients. Unpredictability is the cross we all must bear."

Autumn Derby:

  • Day before Derby: "Tomorrow is the Derby, is it not? I wish all the participants a good race. I shall be cheering them on with the rest of the town!"
  • "It seems like it would be quite pleasant to ride a horse."

New Year's Eve:

  • Day before festival: "Tomorrow, we'll all be feasting on soba. Let us reflect on our progress and growth as the year comes to a close."
  • "The soba noodles we have on New Years taste just heavenly, don't they?"
