Chickens are a livestock animal that appear in Harvest Moon GBC 3.
Chickens can be purchased from the Farmer's Union after the player has three full plots of grass in the yard. While purchasing, the player can choose between roosters, which are used from breeding, or hens, which lay eggs. They will live in the third barn over with a max of eight chickens - or four to each room.
Stages[]
Chick
Chicks are chickens who have not yet fully matured. However, with proper love and care, they will fully mature into an adult. All chickens bought from the Farmer's Market or hatched via the incubator are at this stage.
It takes 7 days for an incubating egg to hatch into a chick and 14 days for a chick to fully mature.
Chicken
Mature hens will lay eggs so long as they are healthy and happy. They lay one egg daily if you are playing as Pete or two eggs daily if you are playing as Sara. Roosters serve no purpose other than fertilizing eggs in the incubator so that they will hatch. Any adult chicken can be sold for 1000G to the farmer's union.
Golden Chicken
A few days after a chicken reaches 10 hearts they will become a golden chicken. These chickens may look different but they function the same as normal - except they now lay golden eggs that can hatch into golden chicks. Any mature golden chicken can be sold to the farmer's union for 10000 G.
Care[]
In order to keep any chicken happy and healthy, they require careful attention. Chickens must be fed by placing fodder in the feeders every day. They can also be let outside into the pastures by talking to them - but they must be let inside before you go to bed or they will be killed by wild dogs.
If chickens are not fed for four days they will grow ill and will require medicine. If you do not treat them, they will die three days later from the illness.
A chicken's mood can be determined by talking to it. Ideally, your chicken is happy and healthy - anything less will cause them to not produce and possibly even die.

Aside from eggs, certain products can be made in machines to increase the selling price of it. After shipping enough eggs, the player can purchase the Mayonnaise maker for 30000 G and they will automatically appear in your cow barn.
