Chickens are an animal available in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.

Chickens, when purchased, will reside within your Coop. Chickens will require Bird Feed to be fed within the Coop. Bird Feed will feed all chickens within the Coop and will noticeably disappear when you run out in the center of the Coop. Chickens will lay one egg per day (female hens only). If the player has a rooster, there is a chance the egg becomes a fertilized egg. Fertilized eggs can be placed in the incubator within the Coop to hatch into a Chick within a few days. Chicks do not produce anything of value and will eventually grow into a Chicken.

Chickens can be called outside of the Coop similar to other barn animals using the golden bell outside. Chickens may appear either within your fenced in pasture or directly outside of the Coop.

Chickens will leave their eggs on the ground if they are called inside, or put outside by using the bell. This can be an easy way to obtain/find your eggs. Eggs can also be found by manually picking up each Chicken and they will make a noticeable loud noise, and leaving an egg in their place.

Fertilized eggs can be placed within the storage fridge and saved for later if your incubator is currently occupied with another egg. There is no consequence to doing this, meaning the player can stockpile fertilized eggs for continually hatching new Chickens. A player may wish to do this to obtain a higher profit by selling adult Chickens rather than just eggs if they see the time invested being worth it. It is notable, however, male rooster chicks may be worth selling immediately as two fertilized eggs equal the same sell value.

The player may eat both normal and fertilized eggs.
