Catching critters in Story of Seasons is similar to Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns and Harvest Moon 3DS: A New Beginning. To catch a critter, you don't need to be in a specific year of the game, and you can find them in any season and even in the Safari. There are types of critters only found at night and some of them only found at day.
