The Crop Festival is a festival in Harvest Moon DS: Sunshine Islands.

Unlike other festivals, there is a crop festival for each month (excluding Winter), which takes place on the 29th of each month from Spring until Fall.

There are several ways to find out which crop you will need to grow for each month. Felicia will visit the player's farm on the 28th day of each month prior to the festival on the 29th to remind the player of the crop that they will need to enter into the competition the following day. This information is also available earlier by looking at the calendar for each month, which is recommended due to how long some crops will take to grow. As a third reminder, Felicia will always tell the player which crop they will need to grow for the following month after the current month's competition is over.

On the 29th, the festival will take place on Meadow Island between 10am and 6pm. The chosen crop should be in the player's rucksack before going to the festival. In order to enter the festival, players will need to show the crop to Felicia to have it submitted. An A or S quality crop will always guarantee a first place win. A Wonderful will be given to the first place winner and Wonderful Pieces will be awarded for second, third or fourth place. Any crop submitted to the festival will be sold by Felicia after judging is over.

Crop Schedule

There will be a different and unique crop to submit for every season each year, up to Year 5. Once the game goes into Year 6, the crop schedule will be repeated (Year 6 will be the same as Year 1's crop, and so on).

  • Year 2: Potatoes
  • Year 3: Cucumbers
  • Year 4: Strawberries
  • Year 5: Cabbages
  • Year 6: Same as Year 1, schedule repeats

Summer

  • Year 1: Tomatoes
  • Year 2: Corn
  • Year 3: Onions
  • Year 4: Pumpkins
  • Year 5: Pineapples
  • Year 6: Same as Year 1, schedule repeats

Fall

  • Year 2: Carrots
  • Year 3: Yams
  • Year 4: Spinach
  • Year 5: Bell Peppers
  • Year 6: Same as Year 1, schedule repeats

Tips

  • Planting multiple squares of the same crop a few days apart is recommended. If some crops get destroyed by storms or over-watering, other crops may still survive.
  • When a crop is fully matured, it is possible to leave it in the ground for a few extra days. Crop may improve in quality if left in the ground, but even they don't, crops will also not lose any quality when left.
    • If leaving crops in the ground, it is recommended to save each night before going to bed. If the crop has died in the morning, simply re-load your save and pick the crop before going to bed. This allows you to wait until the last possible moment to pick your crop without suffering a potential loss.
  • If it is necessary to harvest crops early, putting crops in the refrigerator can slow down their deterioration.
