Guide[]
Plow: You can till fields by equipping a hoe, standing on a field plot, and pressing the A Button. Press the A Button repeatedly, or hold it down, to fully till the field.
Plant: You can plant seeds by equipping a seed bag, standing on a tilled field, and pressing the A Button.
Water: Water your fields by equipping a watering can, standing on or in front of a tilled field, and pressing the A Button. It may take a little while before the field has enough water. Press and hold the A Button until the field turns dark. When your watering can is empty, you can refill it at a water source or a town well. Equip the watering can, stand in front of the well or water source, and press the A Button to refill it. Fields can be watered up to twice per day. Watering fields twice has benefits. Your crops will grow a little faster, and their juiciness may increase. If you see that your fields are dry, try watering them again.
Fertilize: Spreading fertilizer on growing crops will help raise their quality. There are several types of fertilizer, but be aware that you can use it only once per day on each field. Liquid fertilizer is made by mixing fertilizer with other ingredients. It can be put in a watering can and used to water fields like regular water. You will need a liquid fertilizer tank. A liquid fertilizer tank will become available in at Relacion during the course of the game.
Harvest: When crops are ripe, stand in front of them and press the A Button to harvest them. Harvested crops automatically go into your bag. Be aware that if there is no space in your bag, you can't harvest any crops. Some crops, like fodder and wheat, require a sickle to cut and harvest. With a sickle equipped, stand next to a crop and press the A Button to harvest it. To see if a crop requires a sickle for harvesting, check your bag screen or the seed details at a shop. Higher-quality crops offer benefits such as selling for higher prices and restoring more stamina when eaten. Try raising the quality of your crops to earn these benefits. There are four parameters to crop quality: color, sweetness/aroma, juiciness, and size. Be sure to keep an eye on all these parameters as you take care of your crops.
Giant Crops: By increasing the size of your crops, sometimes they will grow into giant crops. Giant crops not only sell for more money, but they can be used to create more dishes at once. Also, entering them in a competition is sure to draw the judge's eye.
Gold Crops: By increasing the sweetness/aroma of your crops, sometimes they will grow into golden crops. Golden crops not only sell for more money, but they can be used to make extra-high-quality dishes. Also, entering them in a competition is sure to draw the judge's eye.
Withered/Wilted: If a crop goes one day without being watered, it will wither. Water a withered crop and it will return to normal the next day. Neglect a withered crop for about a week and it will wilt completely. Wilted crops can't be returned to normal, even when watered. Use a sickle to cut them down and plant a new crop.
Tree Crops: Tree crops are a unique type of crop that can be planted and raised in fields. Seedlings will mature in about two seasons. Trees grow no matter the season, and don't require watering. However, they only bear fruit in a certain season, so be sure to time the planting of seedlings accordingly.
Maple: Attaching a sap bucket to a maple tree will allow you to collect syrup. Sap buckets can be bought at general stores. Syrup can be collected from mature maple trees during spring only. To attach a sap bucket to a maple tree, equip the sap bucket, stand in front of a maple tree and press the A Button. Syrup can be collected once every few days.
Mushroom: To grow mushrooms, you must have a mushroom log farm circle on your farm. Mushrooms can be grown in all seasons, and don't require watering. Once the mushroom is full size, stand in front of it and press the A Button to harvest it. One mushroom spore will yield a harvest three times. Once all three mushrooms have been harvested, you will need to plant spores again. To remove mushroom spores before all three mushrooms have grown, use a sickle to return the mushroom log to an unplanted state.
Paddy: To grow water-based crops, first place a paddy on your farm. Till the paddy with a hoe and fill it with water using a watering can. Once filled, plant an aquatic crop and wait for it to grow. Be aware that paddies will lose water little by little each day. Be careful not to let them go dry completely.
