- "Heh heh. It's not that surprising, is it? Just like there are animals and plants, there are humans and mages."
- ―Edmond
Edmond is one of the five bachelors available by default in Harvest Moon: Light of Hope.
He is a grand mage, and the master to the mages Tabitha and Gareth. Unlike his rambunctious apprentices, he is much more calm and wise; possibly attributed to his 100+ years of age. He will aid the farmer in their quest to restore the lighthouse, as well as serve as a peacemaker when Tabitha and Gareth get up to their antics.

Note Events[]
Note Event 1
- Beacon Town / Any Time / Any Weather
Tabitha and Gareth are bickering. After a bit, Edmond shows up and, after more arguing/conversation, the two apprentices leave. Edmond comments about how they've calmed down.
- They're quite entertaining. | +FP (Best Answer)
- They're always causing trouble.
- You seem happy about it. | +FP
Tabitha: "Like I said, if I just cast this spell, I can easily turn all living things on this island into frogs!"
Gareth: "And what good does that do for anyone? Besides, the magic won't work on me."
Tabitha: "Excuse you! Don't act all tough, wizboy! Dare me, and I'll turn you into a frog right this instant!"
Gareth: "Go right on ahead. And in return, I'll turn you into a snake."
Tabitha: "A snake?! No no no! I hate snakes!"
Gareth: "You're fond of frogs but detest snakes?"
...
Tabitha: "[Player]! Were you there this entire time? You should've said something And tell Gareth how wrong he is! This stupid wizboy says he's going to turn me into a snake!"
...
Edmond: "Ah, am I bothering you? It seems you're all a bit preoccupied right now."
Tabitha: "M-Master! Oh Master, Master! Will you help me? Gareth is being a big meanie! Wahhh!"
Gareth: "If I recall, you were the one who started this."
Edmond: "Haha. Oh, you two never change."
...
Tabitha: "You're asking how long we lived with our master? Hmm, I'm not really sure. I don't remember the exact timeframe, but I know for a fact that I was there before Gareth!"
Gareth: "A marginal difference it was."
Tabitha: "Quiet, you!"
...
Tabitha: "How well we know our master. Uh..."
Gareth: "Hmm... Considering we lived together for quite some time, I realize I have very little knowledge of you, Master."
Edmond: "Heh heh. But there's no need to know. I have nothing interesting about me."
Tabitha: "Come on! I understand you like being secretive and all, but you can at least tell US a little about yourself! That attitude is what makes people believe those rumors of how you sold your soul to the devil. They were saying that's the reason why you still look young, even though you're over a hundred years old!"
Edmond: "Hahaha. That's very funny."
Tabitha: "Master! I'm serious!"
Edmond: "More importantly, Tabitha. Isn't there something you're supposed to be doing?"
Tabitha: "I uh..."
Edmond: "You're too easily distracted. I see that still hasn't changed. I know you're very talented, but you must stay focused."
Tabitha: "Talented? Me? Ooh, thank you Master!"
Gareth: "I'm certain that was not a compliment."
Tabitha: "Shut your mouth, wizboy!"
Edmond: "Ah Gareth. You haven't changed either."
...
Edmond: "Gareth used to be far more stubborn... Like the time he spent three whole days researching, trying to prove his point. He stayed holed up in the basement the entire time, so we thought he ran away from home. That sure was a panicky mess."
Gareth: "Master! Please don't remind me of that incident. It truly invokes embarrassment just from reflecting on it."
Tabitha: "Gareth is such an attention hog."
Gareth: "I sure am not. Such description would rather be fitting of you."
Tabitha: "How dare you?!"
Gareth: "I forsee this conversation to lead to another unproductive waste of time, so I shall excuse myself here."
Tabitha: "Hey, wait! Don't run away from me, you coward!"
*Gareth and Tabitha leave*
Edmond: "Hahaha. A rowdy set of apprentices they are."
...
Edmond: "Actually, they've calmed down quite a bit. They used to be far more ruthless against each other. Perhaps crossing paths with you and the people of this island has rounded out both of their personalities."
- "They're quite entertaining."
Edmond: "I do agree. I watched them grow up as children, but I can't help but worry about them after they left my custody."
- "They're always causing trouble."
Edmond: "I apologize on their behalf. They're rambuntious apprentices, but won't it feel too quiet if they're not around?"
- "You seem happy about it."
Edmond: "Obviously so. As their mentor, I am certainly delighted to see that they have matured mentally."
Edmond: "Heh heh..."
...
Edmond: "It's quite unusal for me to express my honest thoughts in words. I enjoyed being able to speak with you. We'll meet again someday."
Note Event 2
- Lighthouse Outlook / Any Time / Any Weather
Enter the Lighthouse Outlook to find Edmond in a conversation with Jeanne. He seems to be wanting to ask her something, but decides against it. You'll arrive on scene and Edmond will confide in you. Eventually however, he reaches a point where he has something he wishes to share, but asks you to wait until a later date for him to talk with you about it, after which you'll be given the opportunity to respond.
- When's that going to be? | +FP
- Okay. | +FP (Best Answer)
- You don't have to tell me.
Jeanne: "Oh, hi, Edmond. Are you here to see the lighthouse again?"
Edmond: "Yes, that sounds about right. ...Jeanne..."
Jeanne: "Yes? Is something wrong?"
Edmond: "No... Never mind."
Jeanne: "Hehe. You're being strange. Well, I'm going to head back home, but feel free to stay as long as you want."
-Jeanne leaves-
Edmond: "[Player], what a coincidence."
...
Edmond: "I was just pondering thoughts about the correlation between the lighthouse and this island. I'm not entirely sure why, but I learned that when the light is waned from the lighthouse, so is the island's harvest. It was also implicated that when this light is entirely lost, the island will deteriorate into complete ruin."
...
Edmond: "You're right. I also plan to make my best effort to avoid the worst."
...
Edmond: "You thought I was contemplating about something else? Ah, [Player]. You saw right through me. I was just wondering, what was it that went through Jeanne's mind as keeper of the lighthouse when the light went out?"
...
Edmond: "The role of the lighthouse keeper is passed down through generations, but they are bound eternally to this timeless island. So when the light disappeared, I thought that...perhaps Jeanne saw a ray of hope, of a new start to her own time."
...
Edmond: "Yes, that's right. Hope. Well, no... It was I who saw hope. As I saw the light fade from the lighthouse and the blessing wither, I felt a sense of relief deep within me."
...
Edmond: "That's because... Hmm, now is not the time. Someday, I'm sure I'll be able to tell you too. But until that day, I pray you will wait."
- "When's that going to be?"
Edmond: "Who knows? I'm not so sure myself. But if our fates are meant to cross, then the day will certainly come."
- "Okay."
Edmond: "I'm certain that someday in the near future, I will tell you everything."
- You don't have to tell me.
Edmond: "Heh heh. Are you saying that out of concern for me? Or perhaps you're just not interested in me... Nevertheless, if our fates are to cross, the truth will reveal itself someday."
Edmond: "Thank you allowing me to take up your time on my utterance, [Player]. Farewell, until we meet again."
Note Event 3
- Harvest Goddess Spring / 6am - 7pm / Any Weather
You walk into the spring to find Edmond and the Harvest Goddess conversing. It starts with talk of their friendship and eventually turns to the subject of eternal life, where they ask your opinion on the matter.
- That sounds scary to me. | +FP (Best Answer)
- I don't think I can handle that.
- Maybe if someone were with me...
Edmond: "Hello, [Player]. So we meet again."
...
Edmond: "I came to say hello to an old friend or something like that, I suppose."
???: "Are you talking about me?"
-Harvest Goddess enters-
Harvest Goddess: "Tell me! How are you Edmond? And you, [Player]?"
Edmond: "Some things never change. You are so cheerful as always, Harvest Goddess."
...
Edmond: "Yes, we are. I met her a long time ago. It seems she took a liking to me after I gave her some strawberry jam."
Harvest Goddess: "Wholeheartedly took a liking to you!"
Edmond: "Ever since, she's not only taught me about various magics, but remarkable wisdom that can't be obtained elsewhere. I know the rumor is that I've sold my soul to the devil, but the truth is that I just befriended a Goddess. I suppose you can say she's the snake that fed me the apple of knowledge."
Harvest Goddess: "I don't mind being a snake, but I prefer to be a froggy!"
Edmond: "I do come here rather often. This place never changes, as if time stopped. It feels scary, but also very comfortable."
Harvest Goddess: "This place is and will always be your heart's home, Edmond."
Edmond: "Always, never changing."
Edmond: "[Player]... Have you ever thought you wanted to live forever?"
...
Harvest Goddess: "But eternal youth means that you can keep eating all the yummy food! Your skin will always stay soft and smooth, and you can also fall in love as many times as you want!"
- "That sounds scary to me."
Edmond: "No mortal has yet to experience eternal youth. It is an unknown that comes with unbearable fear. That is quite so."
- "I don't think I can handle that."
Edmond: "Interest will eventually fade in any matter, and when you've finally grown weary of everything in the world... ...even your own life, you must still live on. The suffering then would be unimaginable. That is quite so."
- "Maybe if someone were with me..."
Edmond: "If someone was there to share your life in eternal youth, it would be easier to endure the fears and despairs. Quite so."
Edmond: "I see. Thank you for sharing your opinion with me, [Player]."
...
Edmond: "How do I feel about eternal youth? Well, I... I'm sorry, [Player]. I need a little more time for me to tell you my answer."
...
Edmond: "Thank you. I'll speak to you again soon."
-Edmond leaves-
Harvest Goddess: "It'll be fine. Don't worry about it! I absolutely sure Edmond will tell you everything one day, [Player]. So until he can find the right time to tell you, will you wait for him?"
...
Harvest Goddess: "Aww, you're such a good girl. Can I turn you into a froggy?"
