Ellen (エレン Eren?) is a character in Harvest Moon 64.
She is Elli's grandmother and started the Flower Bud Bakery with her late husband. She remembers the player's grandfather and even remembers the player when they were a child. She is now confined to a rocking chair in her old age, so she never leaves her home. She can often be seen sitting outside in her rocking chair.
If the player gives Ellen a walnut, she will give the recipe for Walnut Cake (this appears in the recipe book as 'herb rice cake').
Starting from the second year, if the player talks to Ellen while she is sitting outside, she will die. The best way to tell is to check and see if she rocking back and forth. If she is, it is fine to talk to her; if she is sitting still, talking to her will cause her to die. This includes festival days. If the player is trying to woo Elli, she will become harder to win over as she will be grieving her grandmother's death.
