Fish come in three different sizes in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town.
You can catch larger and rarer fish by upgrading your fishing rod. There are several uses for fish: they can be sold for a profit, gifted, or cooked with. There are also several "King Fish" in the game, which can only be caught by meeting some specific requirements.
There are 5 key spots or areas that you can fish at in Mineral Town. Each area has different types of fish during different parts of the year. Below is a list of all the fish in the game. The 5 areas are Goddess Pond, Upstream, Downstream, Lake, Sea. Upstream counts as from the top of the lake to the goddess pond. Downstream is anywhere along your farm or along the lower half of the town.

The three sizes fish come in are Small, Medium and Large. Certain fish can only be caught in certain seasons. The species of the fish does not affect the sale price or recipe outcome, the names of the fish you catch are just recorded in your "Memo".
- Small fish sell for 50 G
- Medium fish sell for 120 G
- Large fish sell for 200 G

There are alternate ways to obtain Pirate Treasures, Ancient Fossil of Fish, and recipe for ketchup. During the first five days of Spring, press left on the TV channel and the Harvest Goddess would appear to play the number game with the character. She will provide you with instructions before the start of the game. Win 60-69 times to obtain the Ancient Fossil of Fish. Win 70-79 times to obtain Pirate Treasure. Win 80-89 times to obtain the recipe for ketchup. In addition, the Pirate Treasures and Ancient Fossil of Fish can be found while playing Frisbee with your dog at the beach.
