Gwen (サラ Sara?) is one of the characters in Harvest Moon: Hero of Leaf Valley
By nature, she is an animal lover. She supports the player by managing the farm and is always there whenever the player needs her help. She is a kind young girl, but she doesn't like outsiders very much. You can usually find her in her grandfather's carpentry or sometimes, on her day off, she visits Bob in his ranch and looks after his livestock.
Other than paying her a great deal of attention, if you plan on marrying Gwen be sure to also raise the friendship level of your animals. When your animals get sick the first few times, Gwen will come visit you. This makes her very angry, and she will slap you for being so irresponsible.

Event Path # 3: The Tale of the Endangered Weasel[]

Gwen is no stranger to the different animals in Leaf Valley. She prides herself inc caring for them and making sure that no one disturbs their ecosystem. When you manage to spot an endangered one, Gwen jumps on the chance to make sure that nothing happens to it. Could this endangered animal be a key to saving the valley?
- Note: You should get a chicken/cow as soon as possible if you plan on going down this event path.
3-1: Inspecting the Farm
- When: Year 1, Spring 12th to 16th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP level must be at least 5, your FP with any animal (except your dog) is at least 1
Since you've been in Leaf Valley for at least a week, Gwen figures it's time to check in on how you're doing. After doing a quick look around your farm, she deems herself satisfied with what you're doing. Before she leaves, Gwen imparts some advice about taking care of your animals. It's wise to listen to her.
3-2: Endangered Animals
- When: Year 1, Summer 9th to 13th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 10, your FP with any animal (except your dog) is at least 20
A whole season has passed since you came to live in the valley. Gwen once again comes to pay you a visit bearing some interesting news. According to her, the Funland company is on the lookout for any endangered animals or plants that could be in Leaf Valley. If any are found, then the park can't be built. She wants you to help her keep an eye out for them, especially since your farm is always filled with good produce. Wonder what you'll find
3-3: It ran away
- When: Year 1, Fall 2nd to 6th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 15, your FP with any animal (except your dog) is at least 50
As you're stepping outside your house, a furry white animal runs across the fields. It's certainly nothing you've ever seen since coming to the valley. Before you have a chance to go and investigate, Gwen arrives. She immediately scolds you and lets you know that you shouldn't chase wild animals. She also comments about how the billboards by Funland could be ruining their territories. Maybe she knows a lot more about this animal than she lets on...
3-4: Gwen's Confession
- When: Year 1, Winter 3rd to 8th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 30
Stepping outside your home again, the same animal runs across your fields. Just like before, Gwen arrives to talk to you, advising that the animal you saw is cautious. She expresses her concerns about what Funland has been doing lately, endangering everything and everyone. Finally, she confesses—the whole time she has been watching over that animal and has named him Snowball. Gwen states that he's a rare animal and that's all she cares about. All she wants is for Snowball to live a normal life in the wild but she asks you to help her. After agreeing, Gwen comments that it's easy to talk to you. Looks like you got work to do.
3-5: White Weasel's Injury
- When: Year 2, Spring 6th to 10th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 40
With the new year, you're paid a special visitor. Gwen appears and asks you to come by her house. Something doesn't seem right... At her house, she lets you know that Snowball got hurt thanks to Funland's robot that wreaked havoc in the lumberyard. Gwen's shaken at the moment, unable to stop thinking about what could have happened to him if she hadn't seen him. There seems to be something else on her mind, but she's not ready to vent about that just yet. Still, Gwen has certainly opened up a lot to you and she thanks you for your help. You should help her a lot more with this new development.
3-6: White Weasel's Food
- When: Year 2, Spring 28th to 30th, Summer 2nd to 3rd (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 50
After stepping outside, Gwen appears to ask for your help. This time, she's trying to gather food like nuts and berries to feed Snowball. According her, Snowball's recovering nicely and is getting his appetite back. She apologizes to you about not showing Snowball to you. Her advice is wise when she mentions a wild animal shouldn't get used to humans. However, she's very grateful that she has someone to talk to and get some help about him. Keep helping her some more!
3-7: Gwen's Conflict
- When: Year 2, Summer 21st to 25th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 60
After some time, Gwen comes back to talk to you about Snowball again. It turns out that she's suffering a moral dilemma about having others know about Snowball. He's rare enough of an endangered species that Funland Park will never happen. But she can't do it—she can't see turning him into a spectacle for her own personal interests. She knows, though, that Snowball has to return to the wild—and she wants you to be with her when it happens. You better prepare for it.
3-8: Return to the Forest
- When: Year 2, Fall 1st to 4th, 6th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 70
Today is the day—Gwen is ready to release Snowball into the wild and she would like you to join her. Together, you take him somewhere to be released. Snowball leaves in seconds and Gwen says goodbye. Back at your house, Gwen thanks you for all the help you have given her. She starts to think about what would have happened if she had taken a picture of him. Now that Snowball is released, she plans on checking in on him at night when she can. And she hopes that you will do the same.
3-9: Hesitation
- When: Year 2, Fall 7th to 9th, 11th or 12th (clear or cloudy)
- Where: Pike Mountain
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 75
Note: This happens at night after 6pm.
Entering Pike Mountain, you find Gwen waiting for Snowball, too. She seems happy to have you with her. Publicizing Snowball is still on her mind and she hasn't changed It, yet. She doesn't want to turn him into something he isn't but knows that he will lose his home if she doesn't. It's something she still wants to think about. You'll be the first person she'll talk to when she makes a decision. You should keep an eye on her for a while.
3-10: Public Announcement
- When: Year 2, Fall 15th to 19th
- Where: When you leave your house
- Requirements: Gwen's FP must be at least 90
Note: After this event, you must meet her again that night for event 3–11.
3-11: Picture of the White Weasel
