The Harvest Moon Wiki

The Harvest King ((かみ)さま Kami-sama? lit. God) is a special marriage candidate in Harvest Moon: Animal Parade.

A very busy individual, the Harvest King watches over the whole island and had very little interaction with humans. He has a sophisticated way of speaking and doesn't seem to understand simple human feelings, making it hard to interact with. However, the Harvest King will warm up to you if you do so, but it's not easy as he only likes rare and expensive gifts.

The Harvest King never leaves his throne room on the mountaintop, and can be reached easily after he creates the shortcut to the top of the mountain.[1] Although he and the Harvest Goddess are both important deities, the two will never marry.

Unlocking[2][]

Spoiler warning: The following may contain important story spoilers.
End summon

Once all 5 bells have been returned to their frames and rung, return to the Harvest Goddess. She will tell you to climb to the top of the mountain to summon the Harvest King. However, only one who is considered a "hero" can do this. Earn a "Hero" title by making a certain amount of money in one category (animal products, crops, fishing, mining) and check your farm degree at the end of the month.

Climb to the top of the Upper Garmon Mine. The mine is 45 floors total, and you can only meet the King before 5pm. If you've met the requirements, the sprites will be there waiting for you and ring all 5 of their bells in perfect unison to summon the Harvest King. The game ends with him restoring the Goddess Tree.[3] After you have unlocked the Harvest King, he will create a shortcut to access the mountaintop.

End Spoilers: It's safe now!

Heart Events[]

Note: Unlike regular marriage candidates, the Harvest King and Goddess only have 1 gift event before being able to confess at 7 hearts. Proposals still take place at 9 hearts.

Gift (4-Heart Event)

When the Harvest King has four hearts, visit him at his throne before noon where he will show you a Shining Apple. Accepting the present will make the Harvest King happy, while rejecting it will make him disappointed.

Shining Apples are one of the Harvest King's most loved gifts, and as a result, it may be a good item to give back for extra heart points.

Confession (7-Heart Event)

At seven hearts, the Harvest King will come to your farm in the morning and requests that you speak to him at his throne after you're done with your work at 4pm.

Meet the Harvest King on the mountaintop at 4pm. No humans know deities true names, as it means sharing a special connection. The Harvest King will express that he wishes to tell you his true name, and if you'd like to know his name as well. Agreeing implies that you would like to be with the Harvest King, and he will be happy. Someday when you swear your love to him, the Harvest King says that you will know his name.

Proposal (9-Heart Event)

Once you have seen all of the Harvest King's events and befriended him to nine hearts, you can propose to him. Go to the mountaintop and show the King your Blue Feather.

A scene will play where the Harvest King asks if you are trying to say you'd like to marry him. Like with other candidates, you will get options as to what you'd like to say as a proposal. Anything will suffice and cause the Harvest King to agree with him telling the wedding date. He will ask you to come to his throne on the due date.

Wedding

On your wedding day, you will wake up and go to the mountaintop. The Harvest King will be waiting and the Harvest Sprites will act as the priest to finalize the marriage. The wedding will last the entire day.

Although the King is resistive to a human ceremony, the sprites will go along with it anyway, and you will be asked to promise to fulfill your vows. After promising, the Harvest King will show you a symbol of his love. Instead of the traditional blue feather, the Harvest King will show you a red ring before revealing his true name as Ignis (イグニス Igunisu?), confirming the marriage.

With marriage to special candidates, you will always be dressed in a tuxedo/dress while your spouse will be dressed in their regular clothing. After the wedding ceremony, you will be transported back to your house.

Married Life

Being married to the Harvest King isn't easy, as he will not live with at your house. He is not available to help with chores, and will not make you lunches at the start of the day.[5] After your wedding ceremony, the Harvest King will give you a recipe for Hearty Lunch, but you are expected to make it yourself.

Although it is possible to have children with the Harvest King and Harvest Goddess, they will not help you raise your children. The Harvest King can always be found on the mountaintop. He may return home for important events, but will stay at his throne the rest of the time. Despite this, be sure to remember important dates (e.g. your birthday and child(ren)'s birthday).
