Ivan (ユリス, Yurisu^? lit. Julis) is a character in Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar. He is one of the eligible bachelors to court.

Ivan is Dirk's older brother, who he raised and took on a paternal role to after the death of their parents. Responsible, kind, and patient, he is also a school teacher who works in the city. Like Freya, he is focused on his work and is very mature.

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, Ivan teaches students in the city and is gone until 5pm. On Friday, he stays in town and tutors Cindy and Lauren in their home. He takes Saturday through to Monday off and will stay in Zephyr Town. He is a customer during the bazaar in Spring.

In order to marry Ivan, you must befriend Dirk up to 4 hearts before he will accept your proposal. If both Ivan and Dirk are at a red heart, and you have seen all of the brothers' events, you must get one of their affection points lower in order to propose (depending on which brother you choose).

Black Heart Event

Walk from Zephyr Town to Hotel area between 5:30pm to 10:30pm on Wednesday or Thursday. Weather must be sunny or cloudy.

While watching the fish in the river, Ivan wants to know if the player is interested in fishing. Choosing the first option ("Yeah!") will make Ivan happy to hear the player the same interest in them as he does. Selecting the second option will make Ivan a bit disappointed, but he understands that people have different interests.

Purple Heart Event

Walk into Ivan and Dirk's house between 2pm and 4:30pm on a sunny, cloudy, or snowy Friday. Ivan at purple heart or higher and his black heart event has been seen previously.

Ivan is in his house looking over his father's collection of books. Even though Dirk does not read very often, Ivan loves to, so he tells Dirk what they are about after he reads them. He has been in charge of raising Dirk since his parents are gone, feeling sentimental and suggests talk about something else. Selecting the first option (Yes, a new subject.) will allow Ivan to tell the player about the book he has with him.

Blue Heart Event

Walk from the Waterfall area to Zephyr Town between 3pm to 6pm on Sunday, Monday, or Saturday Weather must be sunny, cloudy, or snowy. Ivan is at blue heart color or higher and his black and purple events have been seen previously.

Ivan is alone on the bridge lost in thought, feeling bad because he scold Dirk the other day, but Ivan claims he was too harsh with him. If the second option is chosen (Sometimes it happens.), Ivan appreciates the player trying to cheer him up. He agrees that people do loose their temper every now and again and should apologize to Dirk.

Yellow Heart Event

Walk into Ivan and Dirk's house between 9pm and 11pm on a sunny/cloudy/snowy Sunday, Monday, or Saturday. Alternatively, go there between 9pm and 11pm on a rainy Friday. Ivan is at a yellow heart or higher and his previous heart events have been seen.

Ivan is busy in the kitchen making Dirk's favorite food, Cream Croquette. He guesses they will make for a good peace offering to make up for their argument. Their mom was a good cook and wants Dirk to enjoy someone cooking for him like she used to. If the second option is chosen (He needs a brother more.), Ivan realizes that he has been acting too much like a parent to Dirk.

Black Rival Heart Event

Walk from Waterfall area to Zephyr Town between 10am and 12pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday during Summer 21 of Year 1. Weather must be sunny, cloudy, or snowy. Freya (boy player) or Ivan (girl player) at a black heart color.

Ivan and Freya bump into and are surprised to see into each other as they leave their houses. Freya explains that she forgot a document at home, so she had to return to fetch it. Ivan comments that he did not think of her to be someone who forgets things, which annoys her for a bit, then admits that he also forgot something: some of his students' graded papers. Freya is impressed and the two of them walk back to the city together.

Purple Rival Heart Event

Walk into Zephyr Café between 8pm and 10pm on Tuesday/Wednesday on Spring 26 of Year 2 or later. Weather must be Sunny, Cloudy, or Snowy weather. Freya (boy player)/Ivan (girl player) at a black or purple heart color, and their black rival event has been seen previously.

Freya mentions that she usually does not see him at the café, but Ivan tells her that he does stop by from time to time. Ivan appears to be under some stress, so Freya invites him over to a table to chat. Ivan explains he has a new student who is very shy and gets good grades, but she barely answers any questions in class and does not talk to anyone. This annoys Freya a bit, and tells him he is worrying too much. However, Freya thinks it is sweet that Ivan worries about his students, so he must be a great teacher.

Blue Rival Heart Event

Walk into Dirk and Ivan's house between 8pm to 9pm on Monday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in Year 3 or later. Weather must be Sunny, Cloudy, or Snowy. Freya (boy player)/Ivan (girl player) at a blue heart color or less, and their previous rival events have been seen.

As Freya notices that Ivan is listening to some lovely music, he invites her to move closer to the record player so she can hear the music better. She figures out that it is classical music, and asks Ivan what got him interested in this type of music. Ivan explains that the record collection belonged to his mother. Freya asks if she could stay and listen to the music for a little bit longer; Ivan has no problems with her request, and tells her to stay as long as she'd like. At the end, Freya thanks him for his courtesy and leaves.

Yellow Rival Heart Event

Walk into Freya's house between 7pm and 9pm on a sunny, cloudy, or snowy Thursday in Year 4. Freya (boy player)/Ivan (girl player) at yellow heart color, and their previous rival events have been seen.

At Freya's house, Ivan brought a book that Freya wanted to read, but she does not seem to be aware that he is there. Freya eventually notices and he asks if she is feeling okay, which Freya tells him not to worry. Freya apologizes for worrying him as Ivan tells her that she has a nice smile, and the latter leaves so that she can get some rest.

Math Problems

On Friday between 10am and noon, go to the second floor of Nellie and Isaac's house. Cindy, Lauren, and Ivan must all have 30,000 FP (4 hearts) or more.

Ivan is trying to teach the girls a math lesson. Cindy seems to be struggling, but Lauren is having no problem at all. Much to Cindy's dismay, Ivan says that there will be a math test next time he comes over to teach.

Cindy asks if they need to write a test. Ivan tells Cindy that she can't avoid things in life just because she doesn't like them. To motivate Cindy, Ivan tells her that he will grant her one (reasonable) wish if she does well on her math test. News of this excites Cindy who is now determined to do well her upcoming test.

The Math Test

On Friday between 10am and noon, go to the second floor of Nellie and Isaac's house. Cindy, Lauren, and Ivan must all have 50,000 FP (7 hearts) or more. Additionally, you have seen "Math Problems".

Cindy and Lauren have just taken their math test. After marking them, Ivan tells Cindy that she got a perfect score! Cindy excitedly tells Ivan that her wish is for him to take her out on a date, but becomes embarrassed after Ivan doesn't respond. She tries instead to ask him what kind of girls he likes.

Ivan responds that he likes smart and hard-working girls his own age. Cindy tells Ivan that she will be the smartest girl that he knows when she gets to be his age.
