Town Data[]

History[]

At the northernmost part of the village, lies the ruins. No one knows when they were first built. Not even the town elder, Tototara. The legends only say that they were built with the help of a witch's magic. Ever since any of the villagers can remember, these ruins have been where the priestesses and villagers have offered their prayers. That tradition still holds true, even to this day. The bonfire is an important symbol to the town. With the exception of during hurricanes, the villagers make sure it burns brightly every day. At the end of the year, they have a ceremony to extinguish the old fire, and light a new one for the new year.[2]

Etymology[]

ルルココ村 (Ruru koko-mura, Lulukoko Village, Lulucoco Village).ココ (coco) could be a reference to coconut or cocoa (cacao).

Culture[]

Lulukoko Village is a tropical paradise tucked away along a white-sand beach. Unique words, outfits, and beliefs help build a culture particular to this one town.

Deity[]

Lulukoko villagers offers up prayers and offerings to the spirits of the land.

Spoiler warning: The following may contain important story spoilers.

End Spoilers: It's safe now!

Dialect[]

Lulukoko's villagers use some words from their traditional language:

  • Aloha: Hello
  • Komo Mai: Welcome
  • Mahalo: Thank you
  • E Kala Mai: Sorry

In the Japanese version of the game, it was a made-up language that added “-nga” to common words. So “arigato” (thanks) became “aringa” and “gomen” (I'm sorry) became “gominga.” The localization team decided to use Hawaiian in the English version in keeping with the town's Polynesian atmosphere.[3]

Festivals[]

  • Spirit Festival: Every year on Winter 9, give thanks to the spirits
  • Fruit Fiesta: Every year of Fall 26, exchange gifts of fruit with residents to increase friendship.
  • Sealight Night: Every year on Spring 4, spend a romantic evening with a marriage candidate
