  • Hey Nik, how do you feel about merging this duplicate wiki with the main Harvest Moon Wiki?

  • Good Afternoon Nix,

I am one of the editors at RanchStory and it has come to our attention that content from our site has been used again without our permission, which is very disappointing. The user who has done so this time is Mai_is_Me , and they have taken directly from many of our pages. Attached to this post, you will find detailed evidence of the theft. As I am the one who painstakingly handcut the portraits and built the tables from scratch, I'm honestly livid. We know that you understand the hard work that goes into creating a Wiki, and we are positive you would not like your hard work to be copied in such a manner. When this has happened before , you were very responsive with us and informed all editors that this kind of behaviour was not okay. We hope that we will be able to work together again to solve this.

    Gotts' Page:

Firstly, our Gotts' page . In regards to Gotts, the images in question are: IMG 1 ,  IMG 2 , IMG 3 .

Here is how we know that the Gotts' images are ours:
    1. A BIN comparison of the files reveals that they are the same file.
    2. The image shares all of the imperfections from when I editted the image.

Tables: Secondly, it's come to our attention that Mai_Is_Me has taken our table design and used it on your Wikia. The evidence that there were different plans for this table can be seen in this edit and this edit  . An image is attached of our original table design and our updated one. I have included side by side comparisons of each. Our tables on our events page show case other tables that are even more similar to the ones she has used. The similarities between the tables that Mai_Is_Me has posted and our RanchStory ones are unmistakable.

    • Our translators [not you] translated the event names. Mochi-Pounding Festival is not the direct translation, the direct translation is Rice Cake/Mochi Tournament. It was called Mochi-Pounding Festival on our page because we knew what happened at the event by reading the description and took a guess by adding Festival, which is no where in the translation.

Japanese: もちつき大会: Mochi-tsuki Daikai: Mochi-pounding "Big Meeting" Are you just outright lying to accuse me of something I didn't do?

You added the page on this wiki around 5 hours after we did. The rip was direct, because you have "Spring" and then "Spring" again underneath it, which isn't what you normally do on your festival pages (see your ANB festival page for comparison, original history). When we realized you were taking it, I made a comment directly on our wiki page about what you were taking. You didn't edit again until October 25th, 6 days after I had openly commented about what you were doing.

That's quite the coincidence, I guess? Maybe if you looked into it, you'd see that that was the day the game was released... The reason it is only spring is because that was the month I was playing in... The previous edit you're using as proof was from 8 YEARS ago, so I can't speak to what I was doing then.

Mai, all your edits are timestamped. Why you are protesting against being called out for plagiarizing, I'm unsure, but the correct response to a situation like this would be to apologize, rectify the error, and promise not to do it again because we're all adults who should have a basic level of integrity for the work we do and the places we represent. When you say another user edited the page, you do realize we can hit "prev version" on the history and see exactly what you edited, right?

Yes, I have been regularly editing on wikis for the last 9 years. I am aware of this. I have admitted, even before questioned, that all I have taken, with credit, is the images. No information from SoSFoMT has been taken by me from Ranch Story, regardless of what you think. The only reason there is any similarities is because both are originally taken from the official guidebook in Japanese.

I know you were aware of the conversation that happened the first time, as Nixerix has commented that you two discussed it. You were aware we didn't want you utilizing our pictures. You did it anyways. Again, the correct response isn't to call us plagiarists in return (we don't copy the guides directly, and you won't find a single page not referencing the official guides we pull our information from in APA format, because I'm very finnicky with sourcing), it's to apologize. Because of your lack of an apology or remorse (considering you quietly deleted/rearranged the pages after we made this issue known and added quotations around the word stolen in your previous reply), I'm diverting this back toward Nixerix, because I'm unsatisifed with your response as an administrator.

You are sure I'm aware of it because someone else said I was? Again, I have, this entire time, said that it was from Ranch Story and I do believe in crediting people. If the credit I gave you is not enough, that's fine and the images will be removed.

I have not taken ANY information about SoSFoMT from Ranch Story and I couldn't care less if you don't believe me. I payed money to purchase the guide book, the game in Japanese, and have taken the time to translate it myself. I am not going to credit someone else for work that I personally put in.

Nixerix, can we please have the changes reverted as originally requested? Or, at least, some sort of reassurance that this isn't going to be a routine thing every 4-5 months. Additionally, I would like it to be known Mai is not allowed to pull any images or information from our social sites or Ranchstory wiki from here on out.

You cannot expect anyone to do this because it isn't in her or anyone else's control. All we can do is remove content that is copied or give credit. You can't just go to another admin because you're not getting your way. --- Again, if you find content that you think is stolen from Ranch Story Wiki and want it removed, you can contact us and we'll remove it. As far as my edits, there is nothing more to discuss.

    • I edited the images and they are now either cropped screenshots from the game or official guidebook.

  • Hello Nik. I've messaged Mai about this but I'd like to run this by you as well. Would you be interested in replacing the gallery slider on the Main Page with Nav buttons? Fandom research has found that readers generally skip over them and their links. Also, would you be interested in discussions being enabled? Do know that once enabled, it will be permanent.

  • Can you rename certain character pages, like Ivan (GrB) to simply Ivan without leaving redirect? It doesn't make sense for characters that appear in only one game.

      Loading editor
    • I replied to you earlier, but why this reply never went through, I don't know.

The gist of it was that we should keep it that way that it is for now, for the sake of keeping everything uniform. There are more characters who have multiple appearances than ones who don't (or who's name is used in different games). Even if they don't appear in more than one game, having the appearance that they're in is still how the rest of the articles are set up, unless they are disambiguation pages.

Scrolling through the GrB pages for example, I think it looks better and more uniform to see Ivan (GrB) or Angelo (GrB) rather than seeing Ivan or Angelo, mixed in with the rest of the GrB pages.

  • Hello, I'm not sure exactly where to dump this information, but while looking for new information on Rune Factory Gaiden (a Visual novel for flip-phones), I stumbled upon several Harvest moon games also made for flip-phones. I did not see them documented on this fandom so I'm putting the information here. Here is the original post I made about it regarding the flip-phone Harvest Moon games.

  • Hey, Nix. It's been a while.

I'm diving back into Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons again and gathering information for the HoLV pages. I wanted to know about the schedules, though. Some characters have it and some don't. Would you really say that they're important? In this game, it's pretty easy to find certain characters.

Get back to me when you get the chance. I can start editing up a storm when you decide. :3

  • Hello! Ive noticed the Wiki is missing buttons for the Mobile Main Page. What categories/pages would be preferred for users to read when they visit it?

      Loading editor
    • I'm not sure how to answer this. I don't use wikia on mobile. Any time I do, it never looks good and only browse on desktop.

        Loading editor
    • The majority of readers across Fandom view Wikis on mobile view. As such, its important to set up a MMP. The MMP is broken down into four parts: Description, Featured Pages, Featured Categories, Optional Categories. Wiki Description is typically the same as the description on the desktop main page. Featured Categories are overall topics with each button within them relating to a category. For example: Your topic is characters and each category is a character category for each game. Optional categories are the categories themselves and are not sorted under a topic.

        Loading editor
    • Using the front page description sounds fine. As for categories, I think Games as a featured category with each game as its own sub-category (or optional), and then the 'In Game' as a featured category with the categories in that as optional categories would be the best. Otherwise, most of our header topics are just for assistance/tools for the wiki itself.

  • Alisa has a series of heart/friendship events that can trigger as you raise your friendship with her if playing as a male character. She is however, not an eligible bachelorette, even though she seems to have heart events. If you raise her friendship high enough and try to propose to her, she will politely decline and insists that she has to dedicate her life to the teachings of the Harvest Goddess.

Can the main character still marry another bachelorette if Alisa declined their proposal? If yes, I will add this sentence: You can still woo another bachelorette after Alisa declined your proposal.

      Loading editor
    • Yes, you can. If she rejects the proposal, you're not engaged and can marry someone else.

  • If Ranch Story content is to be used, please either fully source/reference, or obtain written consent prior to using here on the Harvest Moon wikia.

Especially on quote pages. Do they need to be sourced? How can I make them fully source? The quotes belonged to Luna (AP)/Quotes are from the old RanchStory website via Wayback Machine, not the new miraheze one.

    • This is what I've put in:

      • Ranch Story - We have had repeated issues of content poaching and plagiarism from RanchStory. As a result, several users have asked us not to use any information from their site, including photos and text. This includes the previous domain/website that Ranch Story used to be at before hosting on their current site. Stolen photographs and other content have been removed upon request. Some photo content has been granted permission to be used here on the wikia, with references/sourcing giving credit. The Crediting RanchStory Wiki page has some good information about good practices about referencing/sourcing. If Ranch Story content is to be used, please obtain written consent prior to using here on the Harvest Moon wikia. Even with written consent, proper referencing and sourcing would be necessary.

This sounds good to me, Nixerix. Thanks for addressing this request.
