Hello! I've received a talk post on my old account, User:Mydian (I don't use it anymore) and thought I'd reply here! ^^ It's not a problem. Adding changes does not upset me at all. Whatever you wish to edit, do so. After all, this is a free-to-edit wiki. :) Thank you very much! If you ever need help with anything, I'll be here to help.
By the way, I've redirected some pages, mostly the Animal Parade only characters such as Vivian to Vivian (AP), etc. to avoid confusion (as they only appear in one game). And
Hey, I looked over the categories (Here) and it seems that there are a ton of unnecessary categories. Are there any in particular you dislike? I think that all of the categories added to pages should only apply to the character in that particular game, like I don't think that a character in Harvest Moon 64 and a character from Harvest Moon: Magical Melody should have the same categories (Like Characters, female, male, bachelors, bachelorettes...) I think it just makes it more difficult to navigate.
I think that they should all have the same format. For example:
Instead of "AP locations" it should be Harvest Moon: Animal Parade locations.. (or something of that nature). That way, you don't have a bunch of pages that aren't named the same, if that makes any sense. Like AP locations, Harvest Moon: Animal Parade Characters, and then Animal Parade Bachelors. it makes it confusing, and people then create multiple categories thinking that one hasn't already been created.
I don't know the picture pages are necessary either. AWL Pictures, Animal Pictures, etc. If you want to put a picture in, search for it and it should come up (assuming that people named it correctly). I will at one point go through and go through unused pictures on the wiki.
A couple other ones that have absolutely no use that I can see right now are: Choco, Church, Coop, DS, G... and well I'm too lazy to go through the rest of the list!
But I agree, they needed to be cleaned up. I think that each character should have something along the lines of:
Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town Characters, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town NPCs, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town Bachelorettes, Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town Bachelors, Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town
If you don't like the BIG category ones, like character, female, male, etc then that's fine. They are definitely not needed, and there's no harm in deleting them.
Kay, I agree. ^_^ Categories are such a pain to remove... I guess that the character one wont be though, since most of it is added through the character Template. I'll just remove it from the template page.
What about the disambiguation pages? I don't think they should have any categories added to them besides the disambiguation category. It kind of messes up the navigation too. Do you mind if I remove them also?
No I don't. I also don't think there should be a disambiguation page for characters that are only featured in the series once, but I guess they could stay because they may be added to a game later or something.
I'll be sure to be proactive in deleting some categories and make sure that people aren't adding unneccessary ones. If you delete a category does it get rid of the category on the page, or do you have to do it manually? I got rid of a few last night, but I just took out the categories manually because they were only a couple of pages in the category. But for something big like the character category, that will be a pain.
Oh, and the category "Wii, Nintendo DS, Gamecube" and other game systems shouldn't be added to any pages that arn't games. Like if a character is from Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar they shouldn't have the category "DS"
I updated the Character Infobox so it included Disliked animals and town. Both for The Tale of Two Town. I also noticed that there are pages for Tale of Two Towns with (ToTT) (TToTT) and (TV) Which one do you think should be at the end? Thanks :D
Oh, geeze. I didn't notice TToTT. D: I think Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns, and ToTT works fine. Twin Villages is the japanese version, correct? There are also crop pages that are Twin Villages, so I was adding both. I dont know anything about Tale of Two Towns, because I haven't played it, but I was just adding information becaue it's a new game I think people are looking for and the wiki doesn't have much information.
As much as I've been grabbing information from fogu, I really hate that everybody just copy, pastes, and then leaves the page on it's own. Been trying to add my own spin to the pages and make my own wording and such. Hopefully I can get around to playing it soon.
So I guess ToTT for page titles then? Like Kana (ToTT)? And I noticed that there are a lot of pages that are direct copies of Ushi No Tane, especially Island of Happiness. Usually it doesn't even paste well and it just looks messy too... I mean I usually take information like from Land of Beginning, especially pictures... but I don't know. I guess I'll try not to in the future.
She provides great information, I'm not saying it's wrong to copy and paste, I just think people should put forth effort into at least making it look a little different from the original site. Just my thoughts though, it doesn't really matter, personal preference I do suppose.
And yes, I think (ToTT) works for the titles. Most people will be more familiar with Tale of Two Towns then they will with Twin Villages. Does that work for you?
Oh, hahaa, that does look like crap. Tsk tsk. There are some games as a whole that are just not worked on at all, Sunshine Islands/IOH being two of them.
I also went through and made Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns Bachelors and Tale of Two Towns NPCs as categories. I also made pages for each bachelorette (as they were non existant) the last couple of days, and need to create a category for them and that's it. I'll do that with the new categories/naming we decided on.
Hello. I'm kinda new to Wikia, and I'm not too sure of how to contact people on here. I wanted to talk to you about a possible massive upload of data about Magical Melody. Is there some way I could talk to you more efficiently than by wall posting?
Unfortunately, unless we are in the chat at the same time, there's no real speedy way to talk to people on the wiki. But by all means, I am here to answer questions, so let me know what kinds of plans you had!
Okay, well, my friend and I have been working on an exhaustive guide of NPC reactions for when they are given gifts. That includes every single HQ crop, recipe, fish, etc., and the guide itself is about 70% done.
I've never really edited wikis, and you seem to have some experience in that field, so I was wondering if you could give me some tips on what layout would be preferable and how to achieve them. Also, considering how lengthy this could be, I could use some help in uploading the data itself.
Please tell me if you might be interested in this. I think it could be well worth the time.
Huh. That's certainly interesting. I think that because it'll be a whole section of JUST gift reactions, they should be on seperate pages. Such as: Gina's Gift Reactions (MM)
We don't really have pages like this on the wiki, so it's hard to say what format is preferable. I think that a table might be a good idea to start with. Tha way it looks a little more organized. You could always make a page, and it can be adjusted as it goes.
Oh, what I meant was just that I'd add them to the navigation box at the bottom of all the character pages. You know, where it lists all of the characters and it brings them to their page. That way their page is easier to find.
It's easy to update information/change it if it's incorrect by comparing guides and things, but yes, you're right, you can't actively update it because it's not online.
I was recentally serching the stubs to find ones to edit to make the Wiki better and I discovered some are not stubs anymore and others have no text and I'm not sure what they should be about. Like 'Strawberry'
Well, if you don't think that they are a stub, you can just delete the stub template off the page and it will be gone out of the stub section. A stub is an article that needs to be expanded, but doesn't have enough information to be a full article. So, just add any information that you can if the page is empty, or add information to pages that are lacking if you can. :)
