Mining is a Skill in Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town. Rocks, Gems, and Wall Deposits are mined using a hammer. Shiny Spots are mined using a hoe.
Locations[]
In addition to mining Rocks that randomly spawn around the Farming Areas, players can mine at four different locations. Locations 1-3 are traditional mines where players may find higher quality items by descending through the floors. The 4th location, Stonebreaker Valley, is a special location unlocked by reaching Mining Skill Level 9. Stonebreaker Valley has only one floor which naturally re-spawns Rocks and Orichalcum Ore over the course of several days.
| Name | Location | Floors | Items found | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mine 1 | Farming Area 1 The entrance is located at the northwest corner of Farming Area 1. |

| Mine 2 | Farming Area 2 The entrance is located at the northern center of Farming Area 2. |
30 | Unlock Lava Area | |
| Mine 3 | Farming Area 3 The entrance is located at the northwest corner of Farming Area 3. |
50 | 3 Diamond | |
| Stonebreaker Valley | Stonebreaker Valley is unlocked by reaching Mining Skill Level 9.
After unlocking, talk to the Navi-sprite located by your House to travel to Stonebreaker Valley. |

Time Lapse[]
Time passes normally while within the mines.
Descending Levels[]
There are two ways to descend levels: climb down ladders or fall down pitfalls.
Ladders[]
Ladders are located on the ground of each mining floor. Ladders may be hidden by Rocks which you will need to break open with a Hammer to reveal the ladder. Choosing to "Climb Down" a ladder will result in the player descending by exactly one level. Selecting to "Climb Up" an ascending ladder will result in the power returning to the entrance of the mine.
Pitfalls[]
Pitfalls may be located on the ground of each mining floor. Pitfalls are hidden by rocks which you will need to break open with a Hammer to reveal the pitfall. Falling through a pitfall will result in the player descending 1-5 floors and losing some amount of stamina.
Baddies[]
When mining in Mines 2 and 3, players may encounter "Baddies". These mole-like creatures deal varying levels of damage (i.e., stamina reduction) when emerging from the ground. The player can get rid of Baddies by hitting them over the head with a hammer; Baddies that spawn at lower floors will require more hammer hits to disappear. Once defeated, Baddies will drop Objects; Baddies that spawn at lower floors will drop rarer Objects.
