Overview[]

Mining is an activity the player can undertake at the Dig Site, north of the player's farm on the opposite side of the river.

The Dig Site becomes available at 10:00am and is no longer available at 5:00pm. The Dig Site is closed on days Van is coming to town. The player will keep any items they dig up other than stone tablets that Carter wishes to keep. Only one tablet can be found per year and can be viewed in the player's encyclopedia next to their bed. Whether or not the player is mid-animation the dig will end precisely at 5:00pm. These dug up items can be sold for a good price to Van, or gifted to other characters such as Daryl to befriend them.

Flora will leave the Dig Site at 3:30pm each day, followed by Carter at 5:00pm.

Upon entering the Dig Site the square dig plots will be either undug or partially dug already with or without a half-buried item already within it. Dig plots with an item partially undug will eventually provide the player with an item corresponding to the shown item in the dig plot. Dig plots that are partially dug with no item, or undug, which the player has not yet received an item from can be continually dug until an item appears within the dig plot and can then be dug up and retrieved. It is confirmed that more than three items can be retrieved per dig plot, per day.

The player can dig with no cost to stamina.

Your Luck, as informed by the player's television, may play a significant role in the chance the player both reveals and digs up an item within the Dig Site. The player may be digging up items at a faster rate based on how good their Luck is that day. Luck may also play a role in what items appear. Days with Bad Luck may require the player to "dig" the same dig plot more times before revealing or receiving an item, but will have no bearing on your ability to actually obtain items.
