There are six mines located around Anthos, one for each village And one in the volcano. Mines can generally be accessed through story progression once the player has been given the old hammer and old pickaxe. While in the mines, the player can use their hammer to break stones and ore lodes and use the pickaxe to dig for lose ore or the ladder.
Mining Mechanics[]
Dowsing[]
Dig here for the dowsed item
The mines will be a series of conjoined rooms where the player may find rocks and ore/gem lodes. At first it may not be clear how to find the ladder, but if the player presses 'B' they will see the mini map light up and blue circles may appear. These dowsing circles are either ore or the ladder.
Travel so that the arrow on your character's minimap icon is pointing directly at the center of the circle and dig. If nothing happens, continue to dig in the general vicinity and you should find extra ores or the ladder.
Some things to note
- The ore can spawn underneath stones, if this happens it is better to ignore it and conserve energy.
- The smaller the circle, the rarer the item within. The ladder and pitfalls are always under the larger circles, while small circles are always gems or rare ores (such as gold).
Cave Ins[]
While mining you may encounter a cave in. An exclamation point will appear above the player's head and a bunch of rocks will fall in the vicinity - the tiles they are falling on marked by a shadow overhead. If the player fails to avoid these, they will lose extra stamina hearts.
Some things to note:
- Breaking rocks has a higher chance of triggering cave ins. Additionally, if you repeatedly press 'a' you may be unable to dodge the rockfall since the rocks will not fall until the second hit animation is started. Instead, you should wait for the animation to completely end before hitting the rock again.
- A rock will never fall on the tile you just hit, so step there to dodge it if you're able to.
Pitfalls[]
In all mines, aside from Providence and Lenctenbury, pitfalls may spawn in place of ores. They will be visible to the player as a large circle when dowsing and, if mined, the ground will appear cracked. When stepped on, while revealed or not, the player will fall one to two floors and lose stamina.
Checkpoints[]
Each mine has its own set number of floor, but it remains true for all of them that their will be a fishing pool with four rare fish every ten floors (10, 20, 30, etc.) and a checkpoint that you are able to start from on each following floor (1, 11, 21, etc.).
