As a child, Naomi lived in the city with her unnamed mother and father. Her parents cancelled her family vacation due to work and, instead, send her to Mineral Town to stay with her grandfather on his farm. While she's there, Naomi meets a boy her age while playing alone in the forest and the two become friends. When it's time to go home, Naomi promises the boy that she will come back again one day.
The game starts with Naomi, now an adult, getting a letter from Thomas inviting her to go to Mineral Town to take over her Grandpa's farm after his death.
