Friendship[]

Make friends with town residents by talking to them and giving them gifts they like. When you want to give a present to a person, hold the item in your hands when you talk to them. When you don't have time to stop and chat, a quick greeting on the fly is a good way to go. Be aware that you can't use greetings while you are riding a horse.

Friendship Points are determined by your relationship with villagers. To view your current friendship level, check the Farm Report in the bookshelf. Select the Resident Info button to see a list of all the villagers you have met and what their current friendship status is with you.

When you reach enough friendship points with a villager or marriage candidate, a friendship event will occur. For marriage candidates, at least 5,000+ FP (friendship points) are needed to see the first friendship event. For villagers, a single friendship event will occur at 20,000 FP. The maximum friendship points is 50,000 FP.

Friendship can also be decreased. You'll lose -1000 FP if you give the villager their horror gift item. You can lose -500 FP for giving a gift they hate, and -300 FP for giving a gift they simply dislike. Throwing items into the water will decrease your friendship with all of a town's villagers by -2000 FP. If you throw something into the pond at the Crossroads, you will lose -2000 with all villagers from the three towns.

Love Events[]

Before you can start to see the love events, you have to see each candidate's 2 friendship events. There are 3 love events you can see for each marriage candidate. Seeing a candidate's love events will not negatively impact the affection of other candidates. You can continue to trigger love events until you commit to a candidate.

Affection Points[]

Marriage candidates have a hidden Affection Point (AP) value. Earning these points come from participating in festivals, triggering love events, giving gifts, and wearing clothing that the person complements. AP becomes a factor when you are trying to have the person give you a reverse confession, a reverse proposal, or you are trying to get back together with someone that you broke up with.

  • +15 AP = Respond positively during a person's love events, although not every love event awards AP.
  • +10 AP = See the game ending credits (you can do this before marriage)
  • +5 AP = Give a person's special FP gift on the person's birthday, give a festival gift on Valentine's Day, select the person as your dance partner during the deity appreciation festivals, or go with the person to the towns' romance festivals.
  • +3 AP = Give a person's love gift on the person's birthday, complete the Town Link Rank requests to fix up the towns (earn AP with the candidates for the town you help), or give a festival gift on the Stew Festival (Tsuyukusa only), Flower Festival (Westown only), or Fruit Fiesta (Lulukoko only).
  • +2 AP = Give a +1000 FP gift on any other day, or win first place in the Drink Festival, Game Festival, Harvest Festival, or Animal Festival.
  • +1 AP = Give a persons like gift on the person's birthday, participate in any festival, show the person an animal that he or she likes, or wear a piece of clothing or accessory the person complements you on.

Confession[]

Each town has a unique custom of giving a special pendant to the one person they truly love. General stores have these items for sale. So, first thing's first, you have to buy one. Next, and most importantly, you'll need that special someone to think you're special, too. When you talk to someone, you can see a flower by their name, that flower's color displays how they feel about you. If that flower has reached at least the green stage, try giving them a pendant. On festival days or when that person is busy working, pick another time to confess. Once your confession is accepted, you can set a nickname for your partner to call you from now on.

Dating Events[]

Once you are a couple, you can increase the Friendship Points beyond the 50,000 FP limit. Only your partner can move beyond the light green heart color. Your partner will also have a second colored flower next to their name. In the Resident Info section of the Farm Reports, it will expand to display 10 hearts. A new set of love events will become available as you raise your partner's flower color, which are necessary if you want to eventually get married to them. There is a yellow love event (60,001 FP), then an orange flower event (70,001 FP), and finally a pink flower event (80,001 FP).

Breaking Up[]

Showing the Pendant or the marriage proposal item to another candidate when you have a partner already will deduct -2000 FP for every time you show the item to someone else. Giving your partner their horror gift will also deduct -1000 FP. After losing their flower color to light blue or lower, a scene will trigger asking you if you want to break up or continue the relationship. Select 'break up' to end the relationship. If you change your mind afterwards, you won't need to go through the love events again. You'll need to wait at least 31 days since you broke up, the candidate has a light green flower color again, and the person has at least 90 AP. Give the Pendant again to get back together.

Proposal[]

Each towns have the unique custom of giving a certain item to their beloved when they propose. This item differs by town, though. In Westown, you'll want to give your partner a wedding ring. In Tsuyukusa, it's a destiny comb and in Lulukoko, it's a blue feather. The general store of each town should have these items for sale. Next, you'll need to renovate your house to level 2 or higher. When you talk to your partner, you can see a flower by their name, when that flower is red, they should accept your proposal. On festival days or when that person is busy working, pick another time to propose. It must be sunny weather in your partner's hometown.

  • Propose marriage yourself. Go talk to your darling and give the proposal item as a gift. You'll then travel to a more romantic spot where your proposal will be accepted.
  • A reverse proposal can occur if you have at least 120 AP with your partner. Keep the proposal item in your bag and then talk to them. You'll be taken away to a romantic place where you'll be proposed to. You can accept the proposal (+10,000 FP) or reject the proposal (-10,000 FP and -15 AP). If you do reject and you change your mind, then you will have to propose as you normally would, as the reverse proposal won't trigger a second time.

Once your proposal is accepted, the wedding will be scheduled for 7 days later (unless it lands on a festival day). The location and style of the wedding will be based on your betrothed's hometown.

Marriage[]

After the wedding, you can select a new nickname for your spouse to call you. If it is within 7 days of your wedding, talk to a villager (with 3 hearts) to receive a wedding congratulations and an item as a wedding gift. Your spouse will offer to help with foraging, have a mealtime together (cooked either by yourself or your spouse), have a special birthday celebration, and a wedding anniversary celebration.

Family[]

In order to expand your family, you'll need:

  • King-Sized bed
  • Level 3 size house
  • Seen your spouse's post-marriage event (31+ days after wedding)
  • Spouse is at red flower color

Dr. Ford will diagnose that a pregnancy has started. The pregnancy will last 45 days and will not change anyone's daily schedule or stamina levels.
