Rod (ロッド Roddo?) is a character in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. Rod is an unseen character in Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. He is the husband of Lillia and the father of Rick and Popuri.
Rod originally came to Mineral Town with Zack. They got to know each other and when Rod heard that Zack had no relatives and no job, he offered him free room and board.[1] The two remained good friends and Zack also got to know Rod's wife Lillia, whom he cares greatly for.
When Rod and Lillia were married, Rod purchased two chickens. Before they knew it, they had so many chickens that they decided to start the poultry farm. After hearing about a rare flower that blooms in the desert once every ten years from Anna, Rod left his family in order to find this flower, hoping it would cure Lillia's mysterious illness.
Rod's disappearance is the cause of many arguments between Popuri and Rick. Rick feels his father is irresponsible and resents him for abandoning the family and leaving him to care for his mother and sister. Rod was able to teach Rick all he needed to know in order to run the Poultry Farm before leaving, which put a great deal of pressure on Rick. Popuri feels jealous over Rod's trust in Rick, since she feels as if their Father didn't trust her as much. Despite this, Popuri is often seen defending her Father, feeling as if Rick is too hard on Rod and that he will return one day. Lillia still talks fondly of her husband and still clearly loves him, but has questions about if he will return and wishes he were here by her side instead.
Sasha claims that Rod is a good man but she's worried about how long Lillia has been waiting for him to return home. Anna states that although she is a bit jealous that Rod is so dedicated to Lillia, she feels some regret at mentioning the flower. Had she not mentioned it, Rod most likely would have stayed and Lillia wouldn't be so lonely.
Rod is never seen in game, never returning to Mineral Town at any point. Unlike in previous games, nobody mentions keeping correspondence with Rod.
