Ruth (ルコラ, Rukora^? lit. Rucola) is a character in Harvest Moon: Animal Parade.

Ruth lives with her family in Flute Fields. Alongside her husband Craig, she helps run the family business Marimba Farm. Ruth stays inside the store to sell products while her husband and children are out in the fields tending to the crops.

Ruth and Craig often argue about their business and their children. Ruth's daughter Anissa has left to travel, and she's worried that she will not return to help with the business. Her son, Taylor, got into an argument with Craig, and left to start his own business to rival his parents. Ruth often complains that her husband is useless.

In later parts of the game, once the farm's problems are solved, Ruth and Craig's relationship will improve. She will remain at the store to sell products. Marimba Farm holds the Harvest Festival each year, which she is a participant of. Ruth will never be seen in other parts of town except for Flute Fields. She is always in the store manning the cash register, and will be locked in the building when the store is closed on Wednesdays.

Story Line Role

Spoiler warning: The following may contain important story spoilers.

During your search for the Yellow Bell frame, Ruth will ask for your help.

Visit Ruth at Marimba Farm after finding the Yellow Bell to get a cut scene. She will complain that Craig is useless, and that the farm hasn't had any products to ship lately! If you could bring her some crops from your farm, it might cheer her up. She asks you to bring 10 "good" quality crops.

Your choices are lettuce, tomatoes, pumpkins, or buckwheat. You only need to bring Ruth one of these 4 choices of crops, depending on the season. Grow 10 of the same crop with a ranking of "good" or better and return them to Ruth.

Giving Ruth these crops will improve her mood, and when asked about the Yellow Bell frame, Ruth will give you permission to go and look in the fields just behind Marimba Farm. Travel to the right of the farm, and open the gate to find the Yellow Bell frame! Place the bell on the frame, and ring the bell.

This improves Marimba Farm's stock, unlocks Taylor's store, and Anissa is unlocked as a character in game.
