The Harvest Moon Wiki

Sheep are a livestock animal that appear in Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories. They have two different breeds of sheep that the player can raise - the standard sheep and the cotton sheep. Each breed has its own type of produce.

Sheep can be purchased from Hunter's Shop and will live in the barn. Alongside other livestock animals, they will live in the barn - where the player is capped at five livestock or seven if they upgrade to a larger barn. They will then produce wool once fully matured, which can only be sold as is - wool cannot be crafted into anything.

Care[]

All sheep need to be fed daily. The player can either put feed into the feed troughs inside the barn or ring the bell to let sheep out to graze if they have mature grass on the property. Though sheep may be fed any type of feed the higher quality feed used will increase the odds of getting higher quality produce (Grass -> Normal Feed -> Great Feed -> Delicious Feed). It should be noted that grazing does increase a sheep's affection. However, fresh grass will wilt after three days, and a sheep cannot be let out to graze if it is raining so this shouldn't be your only source of food. Sheep should also be petted daily and must be brushed every other day - both these actions will happen automatically once interacting with the sheep and require no extra effort from the player.

Neglecting to properly care for an animal will cause its stress meter to go up. The more stressed out the animal is, the less likely they are to create produce. If an animal is stressed and neglected for too long, it can get sick. Medicine can be purchased at Hunter's Animal Shop for 3500G.

Stages[]

Lamb (SoM)
Sheep (SoM)
Lamb
12 days
Mature Sheep
3 year lifespan *
Pregnant Sheep
5 days **

* Note: Sheep can die randomly any morning after reaching 3 years old.
** Note: This date may be extended by one or more if the player has bred multiple animals on the same day.

Lambs[]

These are the sheep that have not fully grown. All sheep will begin at this stage - whether purchased from Hunter or bred using a miracle potion. Lambs will be unable to be sheared but can produce compost. They will also still need to be cared for like mature sheep by petting, brushing, and feeding them as needed. They can also still get sick and stressed if not cared for.

With proper love and care, the lamb will fully mature into an adult sheep. It takes a full week (seven days) for a lamb to mature.

Mature Sheep[]

Mature adult sheep are capable of producing compost every few days and wool every three days that vary in quality depending on their affection for the player - the happier the sheep, the more valuable wool the player will get. The quality of wool can also be influenced by the type of feed used for the sheep, with higher quality feed increasing the odds of higher quality wool. However, sheep will only allow themselves to be shorn if they are in a good mood, have eaten that day, are healthy, and are not pregnant.

Mature sheep may die any morning after they reach the three years old mark.

Pregnant Sheep[]

Healthy adult sheep can be impregnated using a miracle potion which can be purchased from Hunter for 8000G. When a sheep becomes pregnant, it will lay down and refuse to move from the hay-nesting stalls and cannot be shorn or let out to graze until its lamb is born. This allows the player to slack off for a few days. Pregnant sheep will be stuck at the 'full' and 'clean' status conditions and their condition will be replaced with 'pregnant' meaning that they won't be able to get sick. Their affection will also be stuck in place for that period.

Five days after being given the miracle potion, Hunter will come to the player's house in the morning to inform them their sheep has successfully given birth and allows the player to name their new bundle of joy. Only one sheep can give birth a day, however, so a sheep's pregnancy may be extended by a day if the player bred two sheep in one day.
