Takakura plays the role of your mentor after your father's death. He is a quiet but hard working person who was a long time friend of the player's father. He is quite invested in the farm, and cares for it's best interest.

During the afternoon, he can be seen walking to the beach and will later go check out Vesta's crops in the evening. Takakura comes back to his house at a very late time in the night. Takakura is also the one who tells you of an animal's death and he brings you a horse after you have shipped 1000 items. 

If the player has a GBA connection to Mineral Town, he will also teach Popuri how to properly care for chickens when she visits the valley.
