This article covers all tools the player can obtain in Harvest Moon GBC 3. There are a total of 24 tools the player can obtain - though some are exclusive to the male or female version of the game unless trading or gamesharks are used.
Unlike Sara, Pete can upgrade his basic tools by using them. When the game starts, all tools that can be upgraded start at level one and the player will have to use the tools to get them to a max of level three. Leveled tools may be charged up, by holding down the A button, to make it stronger. The higher the level, the less uses it takes to accomplish a task.
Basic Tools[]
Hand[]
Essentially no tools are equipped. Used to pick up items, interact with NPCs and livestock, and gift people with items. The hand cannot be upgraded.
Sickle[]
Used to cut weeds, crops, and mature grass.
- Level 1: Cuts one grass in front of you.
- Level 2: Cuts three grass in the row in front of you.
- Level 3: Cuts the nine grass in a square around you.
Hoe[]
Used to till the ground to plant crops.
- Level 1: Plow one plot of land in front of you.
- Level 2: Plow three plots of land in a line in front of you
- Level 3: Plow six plots of land in a line in front of you
Ax[]
Used to break stumps to turn them into lumber.
- Level 1: Breaks stumps in six hits.
- Level 2: Can partially charge the ax to break stumps in three hits.
- Level 3: Can charge the ax to break stumps in one hit.
Hammer[]
Used to break up pebbles and large rocks to get them out of the way.
- Level 1: Breaks large rocks in six hits.
- Level 2: Can be partially charged to break large rocks in three hits.
- Level 3: Can be charged to break large rocks in one hit.
Watering Can[]
Used to water crops.
- Level 1: Waters one crop directly in front of the player.
- Level 2: Waters the three crops in a row in front of the player
- Level 3: Waters all nine crops in a square around the player.
