The Sickle allows the player to cut tall grass in their pasture to make fodder for their animals, it also cuts crops growing in the player's crop fields allowing for faster harvests or to get rid of unwanted crops. The Hoe allows the player to till the soil on their crop fields to plant seeds, it also allows the player to get rid of unwanted crops or trees. The Watering Can is used to water crops, allowing them to grow, and can be refilled using the small fountain next to the player's crop field. Upgrading Tools[]
Upgrading your tools allows the player to use "charged interactions" which allow the player to save time when performing a task by using the tool on more than one square. To upgrade a tool the player must use that tool a specific amount of times and must pass a certain amount of time in the chapters of the game. Using upgraded tools also uses less stamina compared to the previous version of the tool, allowing the player to use the tool more often in the day without getting tired. Each tool has its own upgrades specific to that tool.
For instance, upgrading the Fishing Rod will unlock new species of fish to be caught, whereas fully upgrading the Watering Can allows the player to hold more water in the can before having to refill at the fountain.
There are five tiers for each tool upgrade: Regular, Copper, Silver, Gold, and Blessed. If you have reached the specific point in time during your play-through and don't see the option to purchase the upgrade or the requests for Blessed tier, that means that you have not fulfilled the requirements to obtain the upgrade yet. Some tools share their use requirements such as the Sickle, Hoe, and Watering Can while the Milker and Clippers share their use requirements between each other as well.[1]
