In Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, it is possible for the player to have a child after marriage. This can be done by building the crib, which requires 2500 G, 5 Hardwood Lumber, 1 Silver, and sheep wool; either 5 normal Wool, 4 Great Wool, 3 Ultimate Wool, 2 Supreme Wool, or 1 Miracle Wool. After supplying the materials to Doc, the Crib will appear inside the player's house next to bed.[1]

Pregnancy[2][]
In the morning after one month have passed, the wife will experience labor pains. Jeanne will appear at the player's house and announce that the couple is expecting a child. One month later, the player's spouse will ask about the ideal gender for their child, to which they can pick one of two genders or allow this game decide one randomly.
Birth[]
In another morning, Jeanne and Carol will come to the player's house to help with the childbirth. The player will also receive a Rattle, Picture Book, and 10 Baby Formula. Rowan will appear and let the player know that the sprites will watch over their child while they are out of house.
The newborn baby will be placed in the Crib. They can be fed daily using Formula Milk given to Carol. The formula milk requires 2 Milk or 1 of higher-quality milk, while Creamy Formula Milk requires 2 Chocolate Milk or 1 of higher-quality chocolate milk.
In another one month, the player will awake in the morning to find their child crawling around on the ground. The child will start to walk in another one month.
Full-Grown Event[3][]
After the child has walked for one month, the player will wake up in the morning to see them in bed and feel ill. Edmond concludes that the player's child has been infected with Petrification disease, which infected the island a long time ago. If it is left uncured, the victim will eventually turn into a rock.
The Goddess suggests the player to talk to Doc, who can craft a Magic Pot if they bring him 10 Hardwood Lumber, 40 Glass Material (the original ore; not processed Glass), and 1 Soul Gem. Once materials are gathered, return to Doc's lab where he will make a Magic Pot. As the player leaves, Edmond catches up to them and hands over the potion that will be used to dissolve the light.
With the Magic Pot, Edmond's potion, and 1 additional Soul Gem in bag inventory, return to the Harvest God to create the potion. He will say a few magic words and then hand over the Petrification remedy. If the player returns home and cures their child, they will automatically go to bed for the day. The next morning, the child will be fully-grown.
