The Farm is a location in Harvest Moon GBC3.
This is where the player will spend most of their time. The player and their partner will tend to the fields, as Pete, or care for their livestock, as Sara.
The farm is unable to be expanded or edited and is instead left as what has been inherited from the player's father. The farm has a house, one barn for each livestock animal (with fields for fodder behind each), a lumber shed, a toolshed, a hotspring, and a large double-field for growing crops, flowers, and grain.
House[]
The player's house will consist of two rooms: the main room and the kitchen.
Main Room[]
To start, the main room will consist of two beds for the player to sleep in, a clock to check the time and date, a telephone to call the Farmer's Union and ship items or turn in quests, a fireplace that will contain 1,000 free G, and a bookshelf that initially contains three books. The player is able to purchase more from Lyla's Bookstore.
As the game progresses the player is able to purchase additions to their house. Some serve only as decoration - such as the rugs. But others serve a purpose such as
- Television - Allows the player to watch the following day's weather report.
- Crib - Allows the male player to have children after marriage with Sara.
- Cabinet -
Kitchen[]
The kitchen serves no purpose in this game, as the player is unable to cook.
Secret Gardens[]
Located directly outside the player's house, this garden is entirely fenced off and cannot be entered or crops grown in it. Instead, a flower will appear to represent each power berry the player has earned - for a total of ten flowers.
Other Buildings[]
Lumber Shed[]
The lumber shed is located in the top left corner of the farm. It is capable of holding 999 lumber and the player is able to check how much lumber they have by pressing 'A' while facing the sign outside. They may also pull out 'fence' by approaching it and using the hand tool.
Storage Shed[]
The storage shed is the first building on the bottom section directly after the player enters the farm. It is divided into three sections: crops, animal produce, and fish. Each section will display an icon for each item in the game and the player is able to take out that item, if they have any, by pressing 'A'. Items will automatically be placed in here whem the player enters it, but Pete can also instantly place items by using the miracle glove.
All items in the storage shed will initially rot and disappear after five days. However, this can be fixed and items made to never rot with the refrigerator from Lukas' Shop.
Hot Spring[]
The hot spring is the second building on the bottom section directly after the player enters the farm. At the beginning of the game the hotspring is nothing more than an empty building with a shovel in the top left corner. However, the player is able to pick up that shovel and dig out the centermost eight squares to reveal the water underneath. The following day, the player's partner will reveal to them that the hotspring has been completed when they wake up.
The player will be able to freely walk into the water to relieve fatigue.
Fields[]
The fields are where all crops and flowers may be planted on tilled soil. The field chores are primarily Pete's responsibility, but Sara is able to help out with some as well!
River[]
To the right of the field is a river. Here, the player may go fishing and retrieve water for their crops. The river may be expanded using the shovel and rice can be planted atop the water.
Livestock Buildings[]
Animal Barns[]
The player will have four barn in order from left to right: horse stables, cow barn, chicken coop, and sheep barn. Each barn consists of two rooms for livestock and a field for grazing in the back. Each room contains a fodder box, four feed boxes and has enough stalls/nests to hold four animals. The first room also contains an incubator or breeding stall to be able to breed their livestock.
Pastures[]
Each barn has a field behind it that allows for animals to be let outside to eat fresh fodder if the weather is good. Livestock, however, cannot be left outside all night and can only eat mature grass.
In order to purchase livestock, the player must already have enough mature fodder planted in each individual pasture. Chickens will require three plots of grass (27 crops) while cows, horses, and sheep require six plots of grass (54 spots).
Silo[]
The silo is located between to cow barn and chicken coop. The player is able to check how much fodder they have by pressing 'A' while near the sign, but they are unable to interact with the silo otherwise.
