As a child, Yuto lived in the city with his unnamed mother and father. His parents cancelled his family vacation due to work and, instead, sent him to Mineral Town to stay with his grandfather on his farm. While he's there, Yuto meets a boy his age while playing alone in the forest and the two become friends. When it's time to go home, Yuto promises the boy that he will come back again one day.
The game starts with Yuto, now an adult, getting a letter from Thomas inviting him to go to Mineral Town to take over his Grandpa's farm after his death.
