Zephyr Town is the main setting in Harvest Moon DS: Grand Bazaar.
The main areas of the town are mostly horizontal areas next to each other, but the Bazaar itself and your farm are the only places to the north if the map. There are 6 main areas.
Areas[]
Your Farm[]
Your Farm House (left) and Field (right)
Your farm starts off with a farm house, barn, crop field, and animal field. You can have Wilbur build up to two additional fields at the bazaar, which replace the trees on the left side of the farm. The first field is 30,000 G, the next field is 60,000 G, and you can then have a greenhouse built in your basement for 100,000 G.
Inside the farm house there is also a storage system, which is accessible from the main room, the kitchen, and the outside of the house. Items can be kept in here, and items with a freshness rank can be kept in here to stay fresh longer. Wilbur can upgrade your storage a total of eight times.
There is also a windmill on the lower left of your farm, which you can use to ferment items and create tins of tea. This windmill is unlocked on Spring 23 of the first year.
Waterfall[]
The Base of the Waterfall
The waterfall area contains Lloyd's house and Emiko's shrine. Lloyd's house is around the base of the waterfall, and Emiko's is behind it. You can only meet Emiko in year 2 of the game through a cutscene.
A windmill used to make seeds will be unlocked on Fall 20 of the first year. There is also an area behind the windmill which is only accessible in the Winter, when the rives freezes over. That small area has Snowballs and Ore Stones in it.
Horse Track[]
You and Wada on the Horse Track
The Horse Track is located to the west of the waterfall and was initially blocked by a group of boulders, which you cannot break yourself. Once you reach year 2 of the game and receive a horse, you can trigger a cut-scene of Wilbur and Felix breaking them by walking to the area. Unlocking the area results in several non-residents appearing, including faceless children at the hotel and Wada.
You can also train your horse here. There are two ways to train; Race Mode and Jumping Challenge Mode. In the former, you must complete three laps of the track under no time limit. In the latter, you must jump as many hurdles as you can in 60 seconds. If you lose your combo, the challenge will end. After completing one of these modes, your horse will be rewarded with as many friendship points as the combo you achieved in the challenge. When practicing for a second time in one day, the horse will only be given one friendship point, no matter how high your combo was.
Once the track is unlocked, the Horse Race will also be unlocked to the player. This festival takes place on Summer 28.
Zephyr Town[]
Zephyr Town During a Festival
Zephyr Town itself is located in the middle of the map, and it is where 17 of the residents live. It consists of residential houses alongside Raul's Shop and the Café. Most festivals take place here.
There are also two shortcuts to get around the map faster here. One on the left side near Felix and Sherry's house, and one near Claire, Wilbur, and Kevin's house.
Hotel Area[]
Near the Windmill of the Hotel Area
Angelo, Daisy, Stuart, and Ethel live in the Hotel Area — along with Amir once he is unlocked on Winter 1. The Snowboarding Contest takes place here on Winter 20.
The windmill in this area is primarily used for making jewelry, and upgrading tools, but you can also use it to process the wool you get from sheep. Like the waterfall area, there is an area accessible only during winter in the southeast corner behind Angelo's house.
Bazaar[]
The Bazaar
The bazaar is located to the north of Hotel Area. This is where you and the other residents have the weekly bazaar.
An exit to a city, which you can never go through, is located at the northern end of the bazaar. Ivan, Freya, and Claude leave through the northern entrance almost everyday to travel to their work in the city, while Daisy leaves on sunny Wednesdays to visit her family.
Trivia[]
- Zephyr Town is the one of a few settings in the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons franchise to lack a mine.
- Regardless of what season it is, the bazaar area will never change to match it, instead staying green all year round.
